invitation to think together

An invitation to “think together”:

What: Taking the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Port Huron Statement as an opportunity to gather and connect with people from all our movements to ask: What world do we want to create and how will we create it?  In short the creation of a manifesto 4 now:

When: Thursday, June 14 – Sunday, June 17

Where: 310 South Ashley, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48104-1351, or in gatherings in your community where you will discuss these questions.  Outcomes from those gatherings will be communicated via Skype on Saturday, June 16.  For details on setting that up, send an email to:

How: On the first day, we will create the conference that we want to begin the work of creating the world that we want.  That is, we will work together to plan what the rest of our gathering will discuss, how we will discuss it, and when we will discuss it.  On the final day, we will re-congregate to collect ideas, statements, questions and methods.  These will be compiled on a wiki, which will be up and running soon, with an eye towards drafts of the above appearing at regular intervals leading up to an academic conference on the Port Huron Statement October 30 – November 2 in Ann Arbor.  Thereafter, we will take this multifaceted manifesto (a manyfesto?) into the world that we will create.

Why: If you are receiving this email, you can answer this yourself in many different ways and that is why we hope that you will contribute either in person or online to creating manifesto/s 4 now.

  1. An exciting moment I would like to participate in. In 1962 I was only 14 and was not aware enough to be able to participate. There are probably many like me.
